Federico Tuani scores World Cup point in Spain

AIT Racing’s Federico Tuani has scored a World Championship point in the second round of the MX2 World Championship in Arroyomolinos, Spain. Tuani did this with a twentieth place in the first moto. He also came close to the points in the second moto but failed to score with a twenty-first place.

At the technical circuit of Arroyomolinos, Tuani had a hard time getting into his rhythm on Saturday and therefore did not get further than a twenty-sixth place in the qualifying heat.

On Sunday, Tuani made a lot of progress. The riding, speed and consistency in the motos was not bad and he managed to take a World Championship point in the first moto.

Federico Tuani: “It was our first Grand Prix. I’ve gained confidence with this and I’m motivated to work hard in the coming weeks and make up for the lack of speed. Because we missed some training sessions, we knew it wouldn’t be easy here. Today, however, we saw that even though I wasn’t the fittest, I wasn’t far bebind the group. That’s why I’m quite happy with how it went.”

Xavier Cazal had a difficult race in the EMX250 class. He started the first moto convincingly because he managed to get a very good start. Unfortunately, a heavy crash threw a spanner in the works and he had to leave the race. In the second moto he couldn’t get into his rhythm and didn’t get further than a twenty-ninth place.

In the weekend of 6 and 7 April, the next race of the MX2 World Championship will take place in Riola Sardo, Sardinia.
